How Can We Raise Our Universities in World Rankings?
Prof. Dr. Ural Akbulut serves as the President of Middle East Technical
University (METU) Informatics Institute URAP. He completed his undergraduate
and graduate education at METU Department of Chemistry between 1968-1972. He
completed his doctorate at the University of South Florida Chemistry Department
in 1973. He started his academic career as a research assistant at METU in 1975
and took on various academic and administrative positions at Ankara University
for a while. He currently works as a professor at METU.
Prof. Dr. Ural Akbulut served as dean and vice rector at Ankara University;
general secretary, vice rector and rector at METU.
Ural Akbulut, who deals with portrait art as well as being an academician
and administrator, has received TÜBİTAK Incentive Award, Benz Alumni Award
(USF&BENZ), Turkish Chemical Society Service Award, Italian Knight Order,
ANGİAD-Educator of the Year Award, Lions International Achievement Award and
Japan-Hyogo State’s International Prize. In addition, he has undertaken more
than a hundred academic studies and many projects that are included in
reputable indexes. His scientific studies have received over 1000 citations.
